Raising the Bar is Florida’s Legal Community Service Day which unites Florida’s legal community to participate in community service projects across Florida on the same day. Every year, the Division hosts its annual, state-wide “Raising the Bar” Community Service Day where attorneys, judges, and law students from across the state work together to better their communities through service projects.
On February 10, 2018, Ave Maria School of Law students and Alumni participated in a beach cleanup at Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park. The volunteers removed several bags of coastal debris. If neglected, debris can be ingested by turtles, birds, and marine mammals leading to loss of nutrition, internal injury, intestinal blockage, starvation, and even death. The service event was hosted by The Florida Bar YLD Law Student Division and Ave Maria School of Law Environmental Law Society.
The Cooley Governors partnered with “Meals on Wheels”, an organization committed to feeding the homebound in their communities, to raise awareness that hunger still exists. Cooley law students and legal professionals provided over 800 meals to seniors, a friendly check-up and a Valentine’s Day card!
